CMIS SCALES UP TO MORE CLINICS IN SWAZILAND
All systems are a go as CMIS scales up the next cluster of health facilities in the Manzini and Hhohho region in Swaziland. The target of having 15 health facilities CMIS-live by the end of October 2016 has kept the team busy in ensuring the clinics are ready for their go-live dates.
This has included the training of clinicians on the system, the installing of computer equipment in the centres, ensuring that the facility server is in a secure and air-conditioned room, and of course having the system live, and being utilized by the clinicians.
Clinics GO LIVE
Currently, there are 7 facilities that are CMIS LIIVE, meaning that these centres are fully paperless. They are no longer using the well-known registers all nurses use when dealing with patients.
Those centres include: CANA Clinic in Mankayane, The National TB Hospital, Wellness, Hillside, and Acts II in the Manzini region. The Hhohho region has seen Mahwalala and Motjane clinics live with CMIS.
The other health facilities which are on the path to “CMIS LIVE” status include: The Manzini Health Centre, and RFM Manzini where the team is pushing to complete the networking of the Private OPD and Pharmacy.
The staff at Mbabane PHU sets aside time every day at 2pm to practice on the system, now that’s what dedication looks like. The Luyengo clinic is awaiting to receive their computers, and train another group of their staff. PSI New Start also have some new staff that need to be trained. The Psychiatric Hospital and Lobamba have received their equipment and are having the system installed in the facilities.
Finally, the Royal Clinic, Manzana clinic staff have been trained and installation of the system at the facility in underway.
Judging by the pace at which the CMIS team has been working and the dedication given to each health facility, the target of 15 centres being CMIS live by the end of October will be met.
